Abstract

Introduction: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by changes in sociocommunicative aspects. Early speech-language pathology
intervention, performed in the first years of life, is valued for improving the
quality of life of children with developmental delays. In the case of autistic children, this monitoring
contributes to advances in
sociocommunicative skills and increases the chances of social engagement as soon as speech- language pathology therapies are
initiated. This study aims to emphasize the relevance of the speech-language
pathologist in the early intervention of children with autism. Objective: To
understand the relevance of early speech-language pathology intervention in the development of
children with ASD through an integrative literature review. Material and Methods: Literature review using the PubMed, Lilacs and Scielo databases. The articles were chosen
after reading the title and abstract. Those that addressed the themes:
Speech-language pathology
intervention, early stimulation and language development in ASD were
selected. The search for the following descriptors was performed for the research: speech-language pathology; early diagnosis; autism; in English:
speech therapy; early diagnosis; autism; in Spanish: logopedia;
diagnóstico temprano; autism. Result: The final number of articles selected
using the proposed keywords was 10,
of which 3 were from the Lilacs
database, 5 from PubMed and 2 from
Scielo. Several therapeutic models were found that demonstrate significant results. Discussion: This
research demonstrated many benefits and contributions from Speech
Therapy professionals in favor of the development processes of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Conclusion: The research
demonstrated that the therapeutic approaches used by speech therapists
are effective in the development of children with autism, providing a
greater benefit in the communicative development of these individuals.
Keywords: Autism Spect; Speech therapy; early diagnosi.
