Abstract

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons, resulting in motor symptoms such as slowness and stiffness. Although there is no cure, therapies like dopamine replacement and brain stimulation improve symptom control but do not halt disease progression. Thus, physiotherapy plays an essential role in assisting with mobility, balance, and quality of life for patients. Technological approaches have shown great potential in the rehabilitation of PD patients. Tools such as virtual reality, exergames, and music-based games provide immersive environments that stimulate motor and cognitive skills, promoting the recovery of lost movements and preventing falls. Techniques like music and dance have also proven effective in improving symptoms, contributing to physical and psychological well-being. However, treatment adherence still faces barriers, such as fear of falling and financial limitations. Innovative technologies can overcome these challenges by making the rehabilitation process more accessible, engaging, and motivating. Research emphasizes the need to develop more specific equipment and methods capable of offering personalized and integrated solutions for treatment. It is concluded that technology has a promising role in enhancing motor rehabilitation and psychological support for PD patients, highlighting its relevance in advancing physiotherapeutic practices and promoting a better quality of life.
